A Wild Wednesday and A Terrific Thursday!

Wednesday we learned about Marshmallow Voices...

We brainstormed what we noticed about a marshmallow using our 5 senses.  The students came up with great answers... Marshmallows are white, round and small, they smell sugary and sweet, they feel mushy, squishy and sticky and they make a soft quiet sound when we drop them.   I used a marshmallow to explain to the students we need to use marshmallow voices when we work and talk in class.  Ask your child to tell you what it means when I say we use marshmallow voices and marshmallow feet in the classroom!  We used the last sense of taste to eat the yummy marshmallow!

Writer's Workshop...

The students wrote down some writing topics which I refer to as "seed ideas".  We discussed how seeds need soil, sun and water in order to grow. Just like seeds, their "seed ideas" will start to grow over time. They will see them grow and change as they write and edit their stories eventually they will end up with "full grown" stories.

Brendan is sharing his list of seed ideas!

Cameron is sharing his list of seed ideas too!

Thursday was a terrific day!
The students loved the wiggle break today... they all danced their wiggles out. Take a look at their faces they had a blast!

Writer's Workshop we learned how to partner read and the students were assigned their reading partner for the year.  They were so engaged in their books... just take a look!

Math homework was assigned tonight... the students were asked to count by 2, 5 or 10's

Can't believe tomorrow is Friday already!

Best, Mrs. Matturro
