Welcome Back 2015

Welcome to room 10. I am so excited to be your child's first gade teacher.  We are going to have such a great year together. Please log onto this website weekly to see all the fun things that happen in room 10 as well as special information.  I will also post pictures of your child learning and having fun. Remember, I can only post pictures of your child if you returned the internet form and gave permission.  I will send home more permission slips within the week if you haven't returned your form yet.

I hope everyone had a great summer and is ready to begin first grade! I look forward to seeing you all at Open House on October 1, 2015.

The Creature Creation Museum

Wow What A Day!!

The students had an amazing time at the Creature Creation Musuem...the students worked so hard on their animal research reports in school and their animals projects at home!  All the projects were truly amazing! We had a zebra, a stingray, a gorilla, a seahorse, a peacock, a few Orcas and whales just to name a few! Take a look at some of the amazing projects that my class made!

We walked to many habitats to see the animals.  Take a look at how our room changed to the Home on the Range, Cuddly Critters and Creepy Crawlies.

Everyone had a fantastic time!

Afterwards we enjoyed a special snack of animal crackers and gummyworms!

A huge thank you to all the parents who came to the Creature Creation Musuem! Your children were so happy to see you and we all appreciate you taking the time out of your busy schedules to see all the fun things happening at school!

St. Patrick's Day

The students started their day with a healthy green breakfast! The students enjoyed the green bagels with butter and green cream cheese, green fruit and green juice.

Most students wore their green and got into the spirit of the day!  We solved math problems about shamrocks and graphed the answers with a green crayon.

The students also did some leprechaun math and some shamrock work with real and nonsense words.

A special thank you to Mrs. Carney, Mrs. Khanna and Mrs. Withington for coming in to help with the breakfast and to all the parents who contributed to the breakfast.  It was a huge success!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Dr. Seuss Week

The students were busy learning about Dr. Seuss all week. They had a chance to read many of his books and do some fun activites that related to the book.  We also had a week of mystery readers coming in to read a Dr. Seuss book.  Take a look at all the visitors we had that week.

A very big thank you to all the mystery readers that came in to read and even the ones who signed up, but didn't get a chance to come and read due to the snowy weather!

Mrs. Khanna made some delicious Green Eggs and Ham cookies... they were amazing and the students loved them! So adorable...thank you!!!

The students had fun doing a Cat in the Hat activity too!

There were even Wiggle Breaks that day...

Take a look at my amazing class!

I missed them so much that week and I appreciate all the well wishes, cards and emails I received from everyone!

Wiggle Breaks and Birthdays...

The students continue to enjoy the wiggle breaks... just look at the energy in the room and the smiles on their faces...

More Birthdays in the room!!

100th Day...

I can't believe today was the 100th Day of School!! We were so busy and had so much fun celebrating today...
Here is some of things we did to celebrate this special day...

The students made a 100 Day creation and wore it to school.  The creations were amazing and so creative.  Students made hats, shirts, scarves and necklaces to show 100 of something.  Take a look at the picture of them wearing their special creations.

Writing...
The students wrote about what they would look like when they become 100 and what they would hope to still be able to do at 100.  The students hoped to run, bake pancakes, see, read and jump at 100.

Reading...
The students made a 100 Day book and read independently...

In math class...
The students filled out a blank 100's chart and then colored some numbers to see the number 100 inside the worksheet.  We also practiced skip counting by 4's, 10's, 5's and 2's to 100. We even made 100 Day Trail Mix.  The students had fun counting out yummy snacks by 10's and counting up to 100.  Look at some of the pictures of the students having fun today.  Thank you to all the parents who sent in the goodies for today's activity and a very special thank you to Ava's mom and Keshav's mom for coming in to help out today.

Please ask your child to tell you what their favorite part of celebrting the 100th Day was!!
